Are you struggling to fill jobs? Would you like to have an ongoing applicant pipeline for hard-working and loyal employees? Then this meeting is for you.
Ryan Perkins, Veterans Employment Representative for the SE Region of Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, will be with us to address issues surrounding veterans and getting them into the civilian workforce. Key topics to be covered are:
- Understanding the Military and its rank structure.
- The type of work done by the different ranks and reasons to hire Veterans.
- Strategies for increasing Veteran employment and how to recruit Veterans.
- Interviewing Veterans.
- Culture Change from the military to civilian work.
- Retaining Veterans in the workplace.
- Incentives available to businesses that hire Veterans.
Ryan served eight years in the US Army with combat deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his military service, he moved into retail management. A commitment to serving fellow veterans led to his career with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, serving first as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Specialist before his current role as a Local Veterans Employment Representative. Ryan’s roles have provided him with a deep understanding of the intricacies of the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG), having worked in both primary roles that make up the grant.
SHRM and HRCI recertification credits will be provided for this meeting.
